Prospective Member Information GENERAL MEMBER REQUIREMENTS This section summarizes the requirements for prospective members of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Air Squadron; however, additional requirements may exist as imposed by the bylaws, Board of Directors, or existing membership. You may be eligible to become a member of the Sacramento Sheriff's Air Squadron upon satisfying the following conditions: 1. Membership is subject to proposal by 4 current members and unanimous approval by all existing members; 2. Members must have been a licensed pilot for the preceding two years prior to membership; 3. Members must hold a current private (or better) pilot's license; 4. Members must have logged a minimum of 250 flying hours; 5. Members must own, and continue to own (subject to a gap in ownership not exceeding one year) a substantial interest in an airplane suitable for emergency service if called upon by the Sacramento County Sheriff or Squadron chain of command; and, 6. New members must enroll in and complete Peace Officer training course PC 832. MEETING ATTENDANCE The best way to learn more about our organization is to attend one or more of our monthly meetings.
